Minors Rankings

Since I had some time, I went through and ranked everyone's minors. I used a 5 point system. I rated them on what the players could become if fully developed. I didn't rank my team because I'd probably be biased. If someone else wants to give it a shot, by all means go ahead.

5 an absolute stud, HOF caliber.
4 a great player, one the best on the team.
3 a useful/serviceable player
2 a line-up filler, not great, not terrible.
1 a useful back up.

The scoring system has its flaws (obviously five 1 point players are not as valuable as one 5 point player. Not to mention its based on my opinions). I think you could argue plus or minus a point on many players.

Ging hadn't popped his A- in PvR yet. With those type of hitters (D+/B+) its important to know where they are in those grades to be able to judge them. I am interested in seeing how Bob Williams turns out. Guys with splits that big are more prone to be disappointments. Both Ging and Williams could definitely be mashers. I wouldn't argue with increasing them to 4s.

p.s.
My definition of 'useful/serviceable' is closer to 'quality' than 'average'.

A+ PWR and A+ speed... and Williams is gonna max out both. His D+ health will hurt his overall numbers, but he'll be a .850-.900 OPS guy and run producing machine

He'll max power and speed but he'll be lucky to break C in contact. I think .850-.900 is out of reach.

Compare to: http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&mode=stats&id=6650129 and http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&mode=stats&id=6650218 (slightly lower speed and maybe not 100 in power like Williams will be, but a higher contact than he'll see)

He just turned 18 today... Id say its more likely he ends up B/A+ B-/A+.

Contact is very over-rated, yea it cuts down on K's but speed is such a bonus on the BA... we'll know for sure soon enough.

How's everybody's players doing on this list?

Moose Giradi got a 2

After he read that he was going to be a lineup filler he hit the batting cages and gym hard. Must I say it payed off earning him the ROY award by hitting 20 HR's and knocking in 91 RBI's and swiping 31 SB.

Gmur turned in a fine second season going 14-14 with a 3.83 ERA (and somehow winning a Gold Glove).

Sherm Mahon had a decent rookie campaign, putting up .255/13/84 and tacking on 87 runs and 20 steals.

Moore is in his rookie season now, starting vs. lefties and serving as a utility man vs. rhp. Currently hitting .308 with 1 HR on the short season.

Gowdy didn't manage much and has been relegated to a CP-less minor league roster spot.
